This vibrant event has successfully attracted a large number of local residents along with various delegates and international tourists. Joining the local government and people in the celebration were Cao Thị Tuyết Lan, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council, and Nguyễn Minh Phú, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, together with representatives from several provincial departments and a vast crowd of visitors.
The festival and the accompanying ethnic culture and sports event are scheduled to take place over three days from April 3 to April 5, featuring a wide range of unique and vibrant activities. The opening art program, themed “Núa Ngam Sparkling with Colors,” consisted of three distinct chapters titled Seeking Water, Converging Colors, and Integrating Elite Development. These performances brought a lively and bustling atmosphere to the gathering, showcasing the rich heritage of the region.
Bun Huột Nặm is a traditional festival of Lào ethnic group, held annually to pray for favorable weather and bountiful harvests. From the ritual of splashing water for luck and peace to various cultural performances and folk games, every element creates a joyful environment for community bonding. This festival represents the typical cultural beauty of Lào people, reflecting their aspirations for a peaceful new year where the nation is stable and life is prosperous.
Integrating the Water Splashing Festival with the Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival helps Núa Ngam commune implement the policies of the Party and State regarding the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural identity. This approach is closely linked with tourism development, providing a strong motivation for local socio-economic growth and ensuring that the cultural essence of the ethnic groups is passed down to future generations.
